Essex-based band Georgia and The Vintage Youth have released the official music video for their latest single ’Overthinker’ which is also the title track of their new EP.
The video involves Georgia Crandon acting in an instructional video guide for what to do at home during the global pandemic lockdown entitled ‘On Overthinker’s Guide To Self Isolation’. Using camera filtering and editing, the visuals have a very 1950s look as we are shown housework, making banana bread, exercising, gardening and reading amongst other activities.
As Georgia sings “I wonder what it’s like to bring home a handsome bloke and a decent salary? Then maybe they’ll be the best days of my life” it will make people stop and think about whether their twenties really are the best days of their life.
Georgia’s honeyed vocal is pleasant on the ear as the rhythm section and horns create an upbeat foot-tapping track which has potential to become a real anthem for the disenfranchised youth of 2020.
If you enjoy the music of Paolo Nutini or Amy Winehouse then the soulful pop of Georgia and the Vintage Youth may sit comfortably on your playlist as you wait with anticipation for future live gigs from this rising star.
