Black Minds Matter UK: the mental health charity making a huge difference in a short time

Formed just days after the murder of George Floyd, Black Minds Matter UK is the mental health charity making a huge difference in a very short space of time. Aiming to provide free mental health resources for Black families all over the country, the mission statement of this charity also includes keeping the conversation surrounding Black mental health at the forefront of the public consciousness, in a way it has never really been before.

In order to achieve this, Black Minds Matter UK are now accepting the help and donations of artists such as James Billett, whose upcoming release ‘What Will They Say About Us’ tackles themes of oppression and racism. Proceeds from this single will be donated to the charity and will aid them in their work to support Black mental health during this difficult time.

James Billett is an up-and-coming folk musician who stepped away from a deal with a major recording label in order to pursue a less stifling musical career. In doing so, he was able to write songs such as this one, which tackle difficult and challenging topics such as racism, homophobia and more, through his poetic lyrical style and astute observations.

‘What Will They Say About Us’ is released on the 17th July 2020, and you can reach Black Minds Matter @blackmindsmatter.uk on Instagram.
