Liverpool is drenched in music and has given us The Beatles, Cilla Black, Charlie Landsborough and countless other musicians and bands. We now have a new singer-songwriter Kris James with his new single ‘Naïve’ which is a song about being independent without something or someone toxic holding you back.
His voice is very easy on the ear and the music paints images of palm trees and waterfalls in your mind. The track is well constructed lyrically with a memorable chorus that will get people singing along (albeit at a government approved social distance).
The electronic pop production does remind me at times of the sound of singles by British pop group The Wanted including ‘Glad You Came’ but it works with James’ vocal range perfectly.
In conclusion, ‘Naïve’ has the potential to be an anthem for the summer and is also a taster of what the world can expect from his new album ‘The Highs and Lows of Love and Life’ when it drops later this year.
