Jonny Ong releases 'Fools' and enables an honest conversation to take place

Jonny Ong, in releasing the video for ‘Fools’, has enabled an honest conversation to take place about the nature of humanity. That may seem like one hell of a statement to make about a rock song, but hear us out.

Taking influences from all corners of the world, Singaporean-born musician Jonny Ong melds East and West to create a truly holistic observation of the human condition. The song, ‘Fools’ , holds in it lyrical nods to the Beatles in amongst his astute observations of the mistakes and follies human beings make in their quest for something greater.

Crafting a music video to reflect this process of realisation, frustration and futility can’t have been an easy feat. But putting together these existential themes with visuals grounded in reality was an interesting and successful move by the master in psychedelia. The video sees Ong wandering through forests and city streets alike in pursuit of a woman who is always just out of his reach. Performance sections take place in a hotel room, which reinforces the themes of enigma and mystery in conjunction with the temporary nature of hotel stays.

It’s an intriguing video which leaves us wanting more from this artist who continues to prove, time and again, that he is one to watch.
