Time's Up for Toxic Masculinity: Taylor Castro releases 'Abyss'

Tackling themes of toxic masculinity in the wake of a global mental health crisis is Taylor Castro, the industry’s youngest and most impressive new star.

‘Abyss’ is the latest release from Castro’s upcoming sophomore album, Girl, Afraid. So far, the sneak peeks we’ve had from this album have been perceptive and sensitive analyses of mental health difficulties which are so at the forefront of the collective conscious today. ‘Abyss’ is no different, as Taylor Castro uses her songwriting talents to write an indictment against toxic masculinity in today’s culture.

It’s a song which hides its depth - not masked so much as counterpointed by the summer-y synths and bouncy piano part which is the accompaniment, the song will no doubt be as at home in the background and it will when the lyrics are paid attention to as well.

An excellent effort from Ms Castro, very excited to see what comes next.
