‘Naive’ is the latest release from Kris James, which sees him recounting his troubled past with a sense of triumph and nonchalance.
Owning up to past mistakes he made whilst he was climbing up the ladder to stardom is the narrative of Kris James’ latest release, ‘Naive’. This single comes hot on the heels of previous “disco love song”, ‘Get Back to Love’, which saw him score a much-coveted spot atop a Times Square Billboard.
Now, with ‘Naive’, Kris James has opened up about his past mistakes and those times in his climb towards the top where he felt betrayed by those he trusted. The overall takeaway from this song, though, is one of newfound confidence and self-assurance rather than despair or hurt. “Now, hey, I’m fine on my own,” says James, with little more than a shrug and only a fleeting backwards glance.
This confidence coupled with an exuberant instrumentation, carnival-inspired with a brass section paired with synths, makes for the perfect summer’s anthem, even in a year where summer seems a little… off.
