On Wednesday 23rd October 2019, I went to the Peacock Theatre in London to see ZooNation: The Kate Prince company – Some Like It Hip Hop with Sandringham students and teachers. Based on Some Like It Hot and Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Some Like It Hip Hop combines instrumental music, singing and hip-hop dance to create a story. It was a dance/musical theatre show which included songs. The two main styles of dance within the show were hip-hop and street dance, with lots of the techniques like popping, locking, crumping, criss cross and freezes, the list is endless! As well as all the dance, they also told a story with a narrator. (He also did the beat boxing and rapping!) They had two ladies as singers (and two rappers) and the rest of the dancers only sang in the finale.I think that the parts that were really good were how well the story was told, how sharp their moves were, how they executed the moves with the speed of the music were, and how in sync they were with the singers. They also used their facial expressions really well so you could tell how they were feeling, which made it very enjoyable to watch! An improvement could be that the dancers could have been a bit more together with the timing as parts of the dancing was slightly out of sync. I would rate this show a 4/5 stars because I loved the dance style. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, dancer or non dancer, and as well as those who want to go into a career in musical theatre, or anyone who has a passion for dancing, singing or acting. ~ Sophie Vaile
