Part B Disney Fim Review - Aladdin

Aladdin

What was the title of the fim?

Aladdin

Why did you choose to watch this specific film?

I chose to watch the live action remake of Aladdin because I love the vibrance of the film, the music and also the storyline. The actors and actresses in this film are really good too.

What did you learn from this film?

I love the meanings behind the songs, especially “Speechless”, It’s such an empowering song and really makes Princess Jasmine be more of a strong character rather than the original film where she was more of a background character. The song was very good at teaching us to not be silent and speak out for ourselves as in many cultures women are still put down and being told that they are lesser of a person than a man. I think the CGI in this film was amazing and it really showed what we can now do with technology. I love textiles and the costumes were amazing all the intricate detail that was but into every piece of clothing, I know this must have taken hours and hours to do. I also used to dance and I found the dancing in the culture was really different and very precise. I really liked how we learnt a lot more about the Arabic culture in this film.

Did you enjoy watching the film? Why?

Yes I loved watching this film. I’ve seen it twice now and will definitely be watching it again and again. I really like Will Smith and it was enjoyable to watch him in the role of Genie as it is such a contrast to all the other films he has done before. Naomi Grace Scott who played Jasmine added so much to the character of Jasmine and brought her to life. I loved all the songs in Aladdin but some of my favorites are “Friend like me” sung by Will Smith and also “Speechless” sung by Naomi Scott. I would 100% recommend this film to others.

My name is Jessica and I am 18 years old. I have been homeschooled since the age of 14 as I had to leave school for medical reasons. I have Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and Fibromyalgia and other issues linked to these conditions. At one stage I was bedridden for 2 years as my illness was so severe. I am now at the moderate stage and can function a bit more. Since I was out of education for year 10 and 11 I have not taken GSCE's. I struggle with brain fog and have severe dyslexia so learning is not easy for me. I attend a weekly arts award class at our local theatre where I am supported by my mum who attends with me. I have now completed several arts awards at bronze, silver and gold level. I am creative which has helped my mental health as this is something I can control myself and do when I am feeling well enough to do it, whether it be drawing, card making, photography or sewing. I live with my mum and my sister and we have 4 cats and 2 dogs. My dogs help me on a daily basis and it is my sim tobe able to get out and take them on a walk when I am physically well enough to do so. (I walk with crutches or use a wheelchair at present)

We need your help supporting young creatives
