On 7th November 2019 we went to Sutton Coldfield to visit Direct Art Action gallery and looked around the gallery to choose two pieces of art work, one art and one photography and analysed them. I saw a wide range of different art pieces and different teqniques throughout the visit of the art gallery. We had a look around the gallery and took individual photos of one of the art pieces that we liked. We were able to sit at the tables and work through the analysis. At the end we interviewed the owner of the gallery by asking him some questions about how he got involved with the industry of art.
The different sort of art forms involved were photography, 3D art, drawings and paintings. They were all different sizes, some on canvases, paper and sculptures that stood on their own e.g. the fridge and the concrete. I have never really been to an art gallery before. It was my first time going and seeing how the world of art works. I think that there were things that were unexpected for example the art work that was a fridge that was made into an art form. I would never have thought that to be considered art, also there was an art form where a metal fence was indented like a car has crashed into it which I would of never considered as a type of art form either.
I think the art gallery was good because it has a wide range of different art forms which successfully shows the different techniques that artists use to create their preferred type of art form, from paintings to manmade structures like the fridge and the fence that were inside. Even if you didn’t like everything, there was something different to suit everyone.
I didn’t like that some of the art forms that artists have used to create there art was clearly out of the ordinary and I really never considered some of art I saw as art because it looks like something you would see in your everyday life like the fridge or the cuddly toys.
I have noticed that some types of art are not just paintings it could be anything because I now know that the art industry is more creative than I thought. When I visited Direct Art Action it showed me a wide range of different forms of art from paintings to photography, sometimes using Photoshop, to manmade structures that have been made into a art form.
I will take away a new look on the industry of art because there is loads of different art forms that I have yet to explore because I was only introduced to them when I went to Direct Art Action when I saw more of a variety. The different art made me feel different type of emotions when I was looking at them so it made me realise how everyone can feel differently about different types of artwork.
Fantastic! Did this make you want to explore art galleries more?
