Lolly Jones: I Believe in Merkels

No one wants to hear about Brexit. I do if Lolly Jones is on the mic.

Lolly Jones: I Believe in Merkels

Where to begin with I Believe in Merkels? First of all, if Channel 4 had gone to Lolly Jones before making the Brexit film, it probably would’ve been a bigger success. I kid of course, I have no idea how well the adaptation did, but I do know that is two hours of my life, shouting at the TV, that I will never get back...

Back to Lolly, the show, in one word, was fabulous.

I Believe in Merkels is a political parody on the state of our once great nation, and let me be frank, no one is safe. Nicola Sturgeon, Nigel Farage, Donald Trump and Angela Merkel were all killed on the downstairs stage of Assembly Roxy; but no one was butchered more than Lolly Jones’s portrayal of Theresa May.

I know what you’re thinking, people have been taking trash about Theresa May before she even made PM, what’s new about that? Lolly has not only created sketches for every sociopath that makes up our government, she’s compiled the show using only their original dialogue. Yep, real words that have come out of our so called “leaders” mouths; every sociopathic, homophobic, narcissistic and damn right stupid comment to compile one of the funniest political parodies I have ever seen.

I Believe in Merkels is the exact downfall of British politics, but with a lot more boob. I’m not one to watch politicians debate in the House Of Commons but last time I checked there were less feather boas, no nipple tassels and nobody dancing around in lingerie; and they wonder why they don’t get the young vote!?

Lolly Jones’s I believe in Merkels is the kind of performance you wouldn’t want to miss. It’s playing at Assembly Roxy every day of the Fringe @ 20:00. Does it take your mind off all the awful things happening in our country? No. But it does make them a hell of a lot funnier.
