The Cologne Philharmonic Hall (Ludwig museum) Photography Exhibition

Why you should and shouldn't go to the Ludwig museum photography exhibition

The Cologne Philharmonic Hall (Ludwig museum) Photography Exhibition

Two weeks ago, on the first of December, I was on a school trip in cologne to look at the Christmas markets and learn German. However we went to an art museum in the morning of one of the days and there was a good temporary photography exhibition there. The Ludwig Museum holds about 70,000 photos dating from the early 19th century to today.

For conservation purposes, however, they cannot be shown permanently. The majority of the photos were black and white or faded due to their age, however many still showed beautiful images. Unfortunately, the photos weren’t arranged very well and there weren’t many interesting techniques or unique photos that made you think ‘wow’, this is very likely due to the fact that they were taken with early cameras, yet this exhibition would be perfect for a comparison between new and old photos.
