Matilda the Musical Review

I have written a review on Matilda the Musical

Matilda the Musical Review

On the 21st March, I went to see Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge Theatre in London.

Despite already knowing the story of Matilda, the musical introduced so many new components of the story and it was very easy and entertaining to follow. The way in which the musical performances were put together was extremely clever and well thought through. For example, there was a song that incorporated the letters of the alphabet into the lyrics. Whilst this was happening, the dance choreography included climbing on to a gate. There were blocks that would be put into slots in the gate and the dancers would climb on to the blocks and use them to aid the choreography. These blocks had the letters of the alphabet on them and as a letter was sung in the song, the matching block would be pushed into the gate. The timing and precision had to be perfectly accurate for the choreography to work. The performers executed it perfectly and the dance looked amazing. The actresses and actors were extremely talented and portrayed their roles perfectly. The accompaniments to the songs were all played by a live band. The accuracy and tempo of all the songs were impeccable and expert.
