Fire arts workshop

I attended a workshop in fire sword and I created a display at the end. It was a mock sword fight.

Fire arts workshop

What was the title of the activity?

Fire sword duel workshop

What art form did you try?

Fire sword

Why did you take this workshop?

To practise for the fire sword duel I am doing for my challenge and to learn about performance and choreography.

Who taught the event, and what did you learn about the teacher?

Lizzy McEvily (Lizzy the Fire Lizard) and I learned that she is a great performer and very enthusiastic about both teaching and learning new skills herself.

Did you create any artwork? Describe it and the processes you undertook when you created it:

Yes, I created a choreographed routine using the fire sword which will form part of my final challenge video.

List some new skills or ideas you learnt:

  • I learned how to choreograph a routine.
  • I learned how to make it look like I was fighting without any part of the sword touching my body because that would hurt when it’s on fire.
  • I learned some ways to make sure I am using the sword safely.

Did you enjoy the activity? Why?

Yes, it was lots of fun and I got to put my sword skills into action.
I also got to perform for the first time properly.
