Following a trip to the Ferrer’s Centre (Staunton Harold, Leicestershire), I was inspired by some of the artwork I saw in the Ferrer’s Gallery to create a mixed media piece of art.
I decided to try to blend my love of both photography and watercolour. Not a natural blend, this presented several challenges.
Firstly, It Was trial and error to find how much I could actually put on the paper without it looking to plain but not to busy.
Secondly, I struggled to find colours that compliment each other and don't look a mess, I didn't fully succeed but it looked better than it did before I reset it.
Also I printed of lots of photos but only found a couple of them useful as I found myself trying to get as many photos as possible but I would make it look to busy so removed most of them.
I tried smaller copies so I could see the colour combination and what compliments what and where I should put each colour and how much of it. All together I made about 4 different pieces and chose the one I liked best.
I like my final piece but there is more than one thing that I would change if I did It again
I am unhappy with the photos I chose to use and I would chose differently but overall it turned out better than i had hoped so I am happy with my work.
Fab stuff Lily!
