50/50 Art and paint exhibition Storm Hargreaves

Why did you choose to attend this exhibition?
I chose this exhibition because it was a good opportunity to see a variety of different photography styles presented professionally.

Who were the artists and what do they create?
There were 4 artists : Paul Sansome,Kev Sandall, Roy Brophy and Rachel Chappell.

Roy Brophy :Photographed lots of Yacht's/sea-scape pictures and often used a photographic impression effect.

Paul Sansome: Photographed landscapes and animals .

Kev Sandall: Photographed Landscapes and animals, he also does photographic holidays where he takes a group of people and teaches them photography skills, often in india ,takes some amazing people photos.

Rachel Chappell: Photographs Flowers .She does a lot of Macro Photography and won an award last year for her flower photos.

What did you see?
I saw four very unique different styles of photography presented within the exhibition. For example, Rachel Chappell always photographs flowers and occasionally things like trees and woodland/gardens, whereas Roy Brophy often photographs boats and sea, many times using a photographic impression effect. It was very interesting to see the different styles. One of the photographers was present at the exhibition and very kindly allowed me to take photographs inside the exhibition.

What were your first impressions?
My first impression of the exhibition was that it was warm, bright and inviting. The photographs were nicely laid out so that I could clearly see all of the pictures on display.
It was really nice to have the exhibition in such a naturally beautiful location. It really encouraged me to take photos of my own after leaving the exhibition.

Did you find anything particularly interesting to you personally?
I really like the animal photography, especially the Aberdeen Angus cows.I think this was taken by Paul Sansome. I found this particularly interesting as I thought it was a random place to find two Aberdeen Angus cows right on such an idyllic beach.

What did you learn?
I learnt that with different effects placed on a photograph you can really change the emotion and feel of the photograph. For example Roy Brophy, some of his pictures looked like paintings with the effect he had used.

Did you enjoy the experience overall? Why?
Yes i enjoyed the experience of visiting the exhibition because I got to see different styles of photography, For example, the macro photography with the flowers, also the wildlife photography with the scenes, some action photography with the yachts and even some abstract photography. This was good because it made me aware of some of the different styles of photography.

Did it make you think about any art form differently?
Yes it made me realise that photography is not just photos, but a way of expressing what you see,and conveying the photographer's image. How it can transport you to the place where photograph was taken. Also how the editing can completely change the photo into something else entirely.

What have you put into your portfolio to prove that you went to this activity?
Photos of myself at the exhibition and also flyers of the exhibition, kindly given to me by one of the photographers.
