Lady Gogo Goch

Theatre review of KILN's Lady Gogo Goch at Arena Theatre

Lady Gogo Goch

This crazy and creative piece is inspired by actress Sam Fox's Welsh heritage. She plays everything from the notorious Shirley Bassey to the symbol of Welsh pride - the dragon.

Occasionally getting stumped by the Welsh was not a problem with this show, as you were cleverly guided though the performance though her many costume changes and cheekily placed stereotypes.

It was fast-paced and the constant changes kept the audience engaged through-out and often had the audience in stitches. The many styles of acting always gave the audience something new to watch from a snippet of a verbatim interview with her Nan, to the mime of an ordinary sheep.

A variety of live instruments were used to really bring this piece to life. Played by musician Ricardo Rocha, he entertains the audience using a variety of instruments such as the violin, harp and guitar. When he isn't playing he's up on his feet aiding Sam with providing comic relief between serious episodes.

I really enjoyed watching this show I found that it was a one-of-a-kind and unlike anything that I've ever seen before. I would definitely encourage people to go and see this show, along with any others produce by KILN (previously known as Kindle)!

Fantastic review Ruby - I really enjoy this type of theatre, jumping from different characters, scenes and taking the audience on a journey through the actors own heritage and life. Love the addition of live music too!
