National Art & Design Saturday Club London trip

On Saturday 19th of November 2016, I went with Truro College Saturday club on the annual London trip to see the Saturday club exhibitions from around the country.

National Art & Design Saturday Club London trip

We went to see an exhibition of self-portraits by our peers in st martins college of art from all over the country which was very inspirational and reassuring, we went on to watch a video about what we are going to do in the upcoming year and listen to someone talk about what she does, how the Saturday club helped her get there and what I might do for us. Then proceeded to somerset house to view the Courtauld gallery, starting the tour in the medieval gallery where an art historian talked about the politics of the mostly religious paintings and what they represent, how paint was made and evolved encouraging us to try making our own and how you can tell something of a painting's history by observing the frame condition, after that we were handed over to a different tour guide who showed us up through the rest of the floors talking about impressionism how it came about and different depths of information you can get from a painting about what is happening there. finally arriving in the Courtauld gallery witch we had to enter alone because they were not allowed to take guided tours up there and you couldn't photograph anything lest the security men go through you phone deleting the photo's you took.

Wow, sounds fun! I like how you opened with a brief introduction to acclimatise the reader to the situation before going more in depth later on. This helps keep the reader engaged. A critique I do have is the capitalisation of certain words, for example St Martin's should have capital letters. The recanting of the tale could be told more vividly, by using more adjectives to set the scene, but under the guise of a more report based article this works to your advantage. All in all, a good piece of work about a fun experience.
