In a small, secluded garden in Shepton Mallet, an intriguing collection of both wire and wood sculptures is displayed.
The sculptures themselves are arranged cleverly in the natural landscape, using the scenery to enhance their ethereal colours and shapes. I enjoyed this is a lot as the art led you on a trail around ever inch of the garden, each one more interesting than the next. I spent a long time walking back and forth to my favourite sculptures, taking photographs and talking to the artists themselves who had a lot of interesting things to say about their work.
Both artists use recycled and reclaimed materials, which quickly inspired me to try incorporating that into my own art. Fiona Campbell's work was made mostly out of wire and metals in warm, rustic colours, whereas as Nick Weaver works solely in wood. I liked the way their sculptures contrasted, especially in the one piece they made together which included a seamlessly-made wooden boat and a canopy of mesh threaded with fabric, twigs, and even fish bones. I found this unusual but I decided I liked the unusual use of these things, so much so that afterwards I found myself incorporating similar ideas into sketches and designs for my own sculptures.
Overall, I would definitely recommend anyone to look into Fiona Campbell and Nick Weaver's work. It is very refined and transformative, and clearly the result of a lot of hard work and passion.

It's amazing how artists use nature to their advantage in their artwork. Very impressive stuff! Are there any more collections of their work to be viewed anywhere?
