I have been looking at the careers of well-known singers to try to find out more about how they got to where they are now. Here is some information about Beyonce:

Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter was born in 1981. She is a singer, actress and producer and started singing when she was just six years old. She rose to fame in the group Destiny's Child which became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Her career has spanned 18 years and she has sold over 180 million records.

I really like the way she writes her lyrics. The song "Hold up" is one of the best Beyonce tracks I have heard. In this song she is singing about how someone cheated on her. It starts with performance poetry about depression and baptism and it is a message about her own demons and her relationship with her husband. The video starts with her in a street bathing herself in a water hydrant. She sings "Hold up, they don't love you like I love you" She saying that she becomes paranoid and has to check his calls to see if he is cheating. It then cuts to her saying she's "jealous or crazy" "what a wicked way to treat the girl who loves you. She then starts smashing up his car with a baseball bat. The message of the video is that at first she's not strong but then she finds the strength and she becomes the powerful one. I think this is one of Beyonce's best video's because it shows her as a strong and independent woman. Here is the video:
