Neil Gorton's Prosthetic Event in Birmingham

Have had the best day in Birmingham at Neil Gorton's Prosthetic event. An event for the world of Special FX make-up that happens every year. From the make-up artists to the actors who dress up in costumes and prosthetics from TV/film shows and adverts to trade stands and live demo's, there was a bit of everything for everyone into this type of stuff. I Got a selection of new special fx make-up to experiment with after working and saving really hard over the last couple of months ready to go shopping while I was there. I got to meet Neil Gorton himself who stopped and chatted to me for a while about starting off in the business. All the models in the body art zone were really friendly and answered my questions, some even asked me questions. The trade stands allowed me to see the products up close, try some things out and were really helpful with their advice to a beginner, it wasn't just money to them, they genuinely had a passion for what they do and wanted to help people get into the business. The demo's were awesome and taught me new ways of doing things and the progression of the industry and how to keep up to date for when I'm ready to go into the business. It was packed with people which made it difficult to get in to see the main stage shows and talks but there was enough going on in other places to get enough out of the day. I even met a Youtuber there that I'm a fan of which was awesome too. I'd love to go back there next year and carry on learning about this art form.

I've been interested in it and learning different techniques for about a year now, I love it, its so creative and you can let your imagination go with your designs, its awesome. I'm on Facebook, just look for Lil' Horror sfx make-up artist, I put my creations and learning about make-up artistry on there.
