Showstopper! The Improvised Musical

The 2016 Olivier Award winners return to Edinburgh on impeccable form.

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical

The six-strong team of The Showstoppers took some obscure and some generic suggestions from a sold out Pleasance Grand audience to create a bonafide musical that defies the confines of human ingenuity.

Altogether a flawless and inventive exhibition of their genius. Genius is the only way to describe the speed with which they came up with complex lyrics that were relevant, side-splitting, and even rhymed.

The entertainment is constant and always so original and the mastery they have over lyrics, music, and story makes you jealous for not having it. The three piece band was a show in itself. The way in which the drummer, keyboardist, and saxophonist have not only to adapt to the situation of the story but also to what one another are doing is a big part of the mesmerisation.

On top of it all, to do it for over an hour is a feat of glory. Over an hour of awe.

All those rib-tickling, tummy-aching, and jaw-dropping descriptions are just. So is the big one: must-see. Read what the rest of the world has to say about it, realise that they all agree, and don't be naïve enough to miss the magic.
