Review on the Talk and Draw event in the National Art Gallery in London

I went to the National Art Gallery in London and took part in a Talk and draw event where we talked about a painting and drew our own interpretation of another painting using a quote.

On the 23rd of October 2015 I went and participated in the Talk and Draw event in the National Art Gallery in London, there we were gathered near a huge painting called the "Rising of Lazarus" which as painted by Sebastino del Piombo in about 1517-19. The lady there was talking about the painting and describing what exactly was going on in the large painting and what it portrayed. She asked us (the audience) to choose a quote and to choose a painting in which the Virgin Mary had been painted. I chose a quote which said, "Let us run to her, as her little children, cast ourselves into her arms with perfect confidence." ~ Saint Francis de Sales. I chose a painting which had Jesus and another baby playing in the Virgin Mary's lap and Joseph in the background. the lady then asked us to interpret this painting in our way or draw a part of the painting. I attempted to draw Mary's head although it was quite hard to get right. I would say that this event was really interesting and fun even though it was quite hard and I got to see really impressive and expressive paintings which are on display in the magnificent National Art Gallery. I would recommend anyone who is interested in drawing and painting to take part in this event.
