wicked

An exact copy of my review that I chose to do on Wicked the musical

The arts event I chose to attend was a performance of Wicked- the musical. I went to see it on the 5th august at the evening performance, which started at 7:30. I saw the performance at the Apollo Victoria theatre in London, where it is currently being performed.

Being a west end show, it consisted of very high quality sets and lighting which were absolutely outstanding. It had a full on orchestra just below the stage which really added to the atmosphere. The art form it comes under is singing dancing and acting. Although I have seen many different musicals before, I feel like nothing compared to this.

Wicked is an amazing show. It has an intriguing storyline that slots in perfectly with the worldly know story of "The Wizard Of Oz", an outstanding set and incredible music. Every single cast member in Wicked is incredibly talented and you can really tell how much professional training they've had whether that be stage school or college.

The only thing I would say about the musical is that you have to see it more than once to be able to fully understand the story. Only because it is such a complicated story that if you miss one line or a couple of lines, then the rest of the story wouldn't make sense. Also everything is so well embedded into the story that sometimes you without even realising it, you missed a massive part of the storyline.

I would definitely recommend this to someone else because it was an amazing experience which I thoroughly enjoyed and would want others to experience too. I learnt a lot from seeing and learning about Wicked. I learnt more about the original Wizard Of Oz story than I did before. However I also leant that the main character, played by Emma Hatton, did not go to theatre school for her education, which previously I presumed that all west-end stars did, but instead furthered her career in college
