Steve Cole Introduces Young Bond in Bath

Unlike many authors who blab about parts in their books until you fall asleep, Steve involved people by asking many questions throughout the talk. He even seemed interested in our answers!

He chatted to us about the research involved in writing a spy story in the 1930s, showing us pictures of crazy cars, gadgets as well as the latest tech (like DNA imprinting lipstick!). He brought in things that were completely hilarious, like a camera that doubled as a flask and a Dalek that held bubble-bath.

He acted comically, pretending that he was being electrocuted by the electro-massager or poisoned by a passing tourist. We especially liked when he was pretending to blow up and he gave us a fright, which made us jump.

Steve Cole was very inspiring, talking about how fantastic the secret lives of spies were and he made us ask ourselves just why we didn't buy one of his books! He was modest and down to earth, not boasting about his many achievements like the writing and publishing of the Young Bonds, Astrosaurs, Cows in Action, Z Rex, Z Raptor, Z Apocalypse and many other brilliant books.

He told us about writing his brilliant fantasy stories and how he got his stunning ideas about his amazing books. He has written such an awe-inspiring amount of books that it's a wonder how he got such epic ideas for them all! He even met a bomb disposal expert to research an idea for writing books called 'Tripwire' and 'Deathwing.'

Not only was the talk funny and cheerful but also clever and informative which is an extremely difficult combination. The talk was entertaining for people of all ages, from adults to 6 year olds and mature but completely side splitting. We loved his talk as it was so funny.

We think that it was an outstanding talk, and one we will remember for a long time.
