The first part of the show that really stood out to me was the way it brilliantly replicated how children would use their imagination to play in a playground or a forest because you could easily see what the two dancers were portraying like fishing, fencing and playing wizards, which I could see kids enjoying. I think that the main appeal of the performance would be the lack of dialogue, using instead grunts, silly noises, sighs etc, this makes the loose narrative and dances easy to understand by children from 0 to 4.
The actors in the performance were on the floor of the auditorium rather than a stage, this allowed them to perform on the children’s level which enabled the children to participate in the performance and interact with the willow if they wanted to. This created a personalised performance due to the actors having to improvise their performance to how the children were interacting with willow forms. The theme of the performance was wrapped around the idea of imaginative play, getting along with each other and bringing the best out of everyone.
In conclusion, I feel like this performance proves to be imaginative, funny and engaging for both kids and their parents. The dance choreography will be impressive no matter the age plus the ambient music and sound effects really helped an adult like myself to put us in the same mindset we had as kids so I would highly recommend for families with younger children.
