I visited Mansfield Palace Theatre to watch the pantomime ‘Aladdin’
I enjoyed the dancing and the music, particularly as a lot of the songs were modern ones that I recognized.
There were references to current topical issues in the news which I enjoyed.
The character of Wishee Washee, played by Adam Moss was hilarious; his energy and comedy gave a sense of fun and chaos! He even ran into the audience at one point spraying us all with a water gun – luckily I ducked under my coat to avoid a soaking!
Abanazar the baddie was funny and evil in equal measure – his magic tricks that never quite worked were funny, but he did an impressive one where Princess Jasmine disappeared, and then reappeared behind a curtain. It was amazing.
Widow Twanky and her wacky outfits was a great pantomime dame, and made me laugh, especially in the traditional pantomime ghost scene.
Aladdin flying on a carpet was a great sight as I had been wondering how the production would show that part of the story.
The outfits of the cast in the final wedding scene were a beautiful vision of red and gold.
I had a great time at the pantomime, we even stood up for a singalong at the end and it made me feel ready for Christmas.
