Beauty & The Beast at Ludlow

Following on from their brilliant pantomime last year, Ludwig Theatre Arts have pulled it off again with "Beauty & The Beast"

Beauty & The Beast at Ludlow

The ‘Beauty & The Beast’ pantomime at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms by Ludwig Theatre Artists is a treat not to be missed; a well-adapted plot from the original story.

The costumes were flamboyant, colourful and wonderfully playful. The costume designer(s) surpassed themselves especially with the outrageous and hilarious outfits worn by Misrabelle. The actor playing Misrabelle demonstrated comedic genius and the other characters: Anton, Leviticus, Baron, Belle, Prince, and Seymore Bottom, ably assisted by enthusiastic child performers, also exhibited immense talent. The intimate size of the venue seemed to amplify the spectacle on stage.

The sets were detailed and magical and the music was lively and fun. It was also fantastic to see a BSL interpreter on stage, ensuring that the whole audience could participate eagerly. It was great that the organisers and venue strived to make this production inclusive.

Obviously, this production appeals to families with plenty of instances of “its behind you” and the requisite booing, but there is enough adult humour mixed with topical gags for parties of adults to enjoy a thoroughly fantastic evening as well.

I would go so far as to say that it is the best pantomime I have ever seen!
