Spooky Comic Con Shrewsbury

A marvellous event!

Everyone was in high ‘spooky’ spirits for Comic Con, Shrewsbury.  This is the second time this brilliant event has been held at the Shrewsbury Town Football Club and it did not disappoint!

Shrewsbury Wargames Society made us feel very welcome and really worked hard to make everybody feel included.  My brother painted some Warhammer figurers, they explained how to paint a figure and how to play Warhammer games all for free.

Several people were in cosplay, their costumes were amazing and attention to detail was spot on!  My favourite characters were Deadpool and Red Guy.  Other characters we saw were Darth Vader, Ringwaidhs from Lord of the Rings, the cutest Yoda you ever did see, Jason, a Jedi and Scout Trooper.   The Sanderson sisters got on strangely well with the Ghosterbusters (there’s a sentence I never thought I’d say).

Next, I won a silver prize on the lucky dip - winning a Pumpkin Knight 3D print figure from www.hobbytimeathealys.com.  The stalls were mainly local independent outlets, which was great for the community. There were celebrity meet and greets thoroughout the day, with Q&A on the 3rd Floor.  My family and I were extremely lucky to meet Matt Hill, the voice actor of Ed, Edd n Eddy among others who really made our day extra special (my brother’s birthday treat).

The external gaming tent was brilliant fun too, even my parents found an old skool game they could play together.

I highly recommend this event when it returns next year, as it is very reasonably priced as a full day out with free parking.  Thanks Comic Con for the fantastic memories!
