Greenwich and Dockland Festival 2024 - World Kiosk Review

As part of the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival, World Kiosk, has returned again, giving an opportunity for locals within the area to chill, have some herbal teas and listen to stories of people’s lives within the local area and

When I initially entered the installation, I immediately thought to myself that it would be simply be just an art installation, in which that it turned out to be much more, which that then I was introduced to 2 guest staff, where they found me a space to sit down and then had a chat to me about my life and how I been keeping etc.

Throughout the event, I ordered 2 teas, one of which was a chai and second, a rose and hibiscus brew, both of which had its unique characteristics and flavourings, which suited the overall surroundings, alongside headphones for me to hear the stories from around the UK and the world.

With the composition of the installation being made according to the nature bpm of the heart, this helped to ensure that the attendees of the event, were in a calm and stress free environment and they certainly did prove this.

After half an hour, I then was spoken to by the volunteer staff again in which we had a catch up on what I thought about the installation, alongside talking about my goals in life etc.

Overall, I loved how the event emphasizes on the importance of connection and community through hearing stories from other people, which many I could relate to alongside being able to chat with new folks about things I wouldn’t typically discuss when I meet someone new and so this high lights the importance of connection and community of today's world, in a never-ending, fast-paced, socially isolating lifestyle of the present day.
