In December I attended a Peter Pan show at Burnley youth theatre, I can't rate the show, it was too good! It was so good that I started drama classes in april! My favourite character is Captain Hook, who is played by Connor Harrison, he was so funny, and after his scenes my cheeks hurt from laughing so much! The reason why we went to watch it is because my friend was in it, (she played mrs. Darling, Wendy's Mum) I was just amazed, how much hard work they put into it. At the end I got a sneaky peek behind the stage, and a picture with Mrs. Darling and Tinkerbell.
The scenes were very simple. For the nursery they used sleeping bags and suitcases for the beds, which made it feel homemade. When they were in the cave they had fake leaves contrasting with the white backstage, and then they dimmed the lights. I thought the pirates were going to jump out at me any second. To add to the effect they added some eerie music. My favourite prop was Tick Tock, he was amazing. He was a 2 metre long paper mache croc, and his mouth was huge! The detail in him was amazing from his huge mouth to his tiny toes.
The costumes were really amazing. Captain Hook's hook was really cool, it was so realistic. The costumes really suited the character's personality. It made the show more realistic. I felt like I was really in Neverland.
The lighting was not as good as the costumes or scenery, but was still important. When they are in the forest, the green lights come on, making it feel like the sunlight is shining through the trees. I feel like it was a dream. It was awesome.
There was music, but not a lot. There was music for some scenes that was played recorded from the tech box, not from real instruments. It would have been better if there was more music though, It would have felt more suspenseful.
