Temping

An interactive experience where you're in the driving seat.

Temping

For the second time this Fringe, I find myself attempting to review a show where, if I reveal the core premise, I will spoil the show for you.

Unlike that first show, I can't even discuss the audience response or what the broad themes are, because you are the only audience member, and the evolving narrative is better when you go in completely unaware.

So, what can I tell you about 'Temping'? I can tell you that it's set in a surprisingly well-built cargo container, which perfectly captures what I imagine to be an accurate – if soul-sucking – office job. I can tell you that you will be working said office job as a temp for Sarah Jane Tully, a 53-year-old actuary, who has gone on vacation. As you complete her workload, a drama unfolds over voicemail, email and the printer. I can tell you that Outlook is an awful piece of software. And I can tell you that you will 100% get out what you put in.

I detest the idea of having to work in an office, but I think I could be content staying in that office-cum-shipping container all day. The team at Dutch Kills Theater and Wolf 359 have constructed an intriguing and compelling interactive experience that will leave you desperate to find out more.

I don't know how to promote this show without spoiling it, but know that I emphatically encourage you to go and experience it.
