Edinburgh Residential 2017

For the last 21 years the Young Pleasance has created and produced an original production for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Applications are now open to join the Young Pleasance for it's 22nd year at the fringe.

The residential is open to young creatives (both in performing and non-performing roles) aged 16 to 21 who can demonstrate their skills through a workshop audition or interview.

For 2017, we can offer the following roles:

  • Performers
  • Technician(s): Lighting/Sound Technician or Assistant Stage Manager
  • Costume Assistant
  • Assistant Producer

The production is created within an intensive 10 day rehearsal period in July and then premiered at the fringe in August.

Young Pleasance is dedicated to offering dynamic, excellent and professional theatre opportunities for young people through workshops and large-scale productions delivered by our ambitious creative team. Having produced annual original productions for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe over the last 21 years, the company have established an excellent reputation at the fringe with audiences and critics alike.

Currently based at Pleasance Islington, the company rehearses and perform regularly in London and its other home in Edinburgh.

Since 1995, the Young Pleasance has trained hundreds of performers, musicians and technicians who have gone on to further training and careers in the industry. Once involved in the company, the Pleasance continues to nurture an individual's creative talent and ambition through our Pleasance Futures initiatives, including XYP - a programme specifically designed for Young Pleasance alumni.

Celebrating it's 21st year, the current Young Pleasance company returned from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 with outstanding reviews after a successful run of Alice Unhinged.
