Aerial Community Greenwich

Aerial Community Greenwich (ACG) is an exciting new aerials training programme, bringing together the local community to learn the arts of aerial performance, movement and theatre practise at The Old Joinery, Greenwich.

Aerial Community Greenwich

There will be a focus on performing in the air using silks, rope work and trapeze. This free program of work offers an opportunity for complete beginners, and those with an intermediate skill in dance or acrobatics, to learn a new art form, join a local project and meet like-minded people. The workshops will be suitable for age 16+ and we are aiming to build a team of around 15 students from across schools and communities in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The training program will run every Sunday from early September until the end of October, culminating in a final performance that will be taught throughout the sessions. The final performance will then go on to be performed at Tall Ships 2017.

Trainer and aerial performer Alanna Bloom will be leading the sessions, bringing a wealth of experience to her teaching. Read more about her here: http://tintedbloom.wix.com/alanabloom

If you're working towards a Silver or Gold Arts Award, taking part in this program could be a great for your portfolio. As a participant you'll be learning new skills, working in a team to develop a performance and performing to an audience – relevant to the Arts Challenge for the Silver Award, or the Arts Practice for the Gold Award. You'll also be working with a range of arts professionals, who could help with your Arts Research for Silver or understanding The Wide Arts Sector for your Gold. There would even be the opportunity to simply come along and review the final performance for your Arts Review section. As an Arts Award Supporter, we'd love to hear any ideas!

In order to offer this as a free program, we are dependent on funding, which we are waiting to hear back about. Register your interest with us now to be the first to hear if we are successful, and for your chance to take part. We should be in touch late July.

Register your interest, or ask any questions, by emailing hello @ theoldjoinery.org with Subject header 'Aerial Community Greenwich'

We look forward to hearing from you!
