A free musical workshop in support of Black History Month.

Open Workshop with the Grand Union Orchestra

The Grand Union Orchestra (GUO) are a musical organisation that bring together singers and instrumentalists from all over the world to create spectacular live shows. On the 10th November we will be running an open workshop at Shoreditch Town Hall to support the Black British Music in Hackney programme. Exploring the songs and chants of African peoples as they migrated from West Africa to Northeast Brazil, Cuba, the Caribbean and the southern USA, this workshop will look at how, with worksongs and spirituals, they also fertilised the roots of the blues and jazz. From 2-4pm, this workshop will be for dedicated singers of age 12 and upwards – just turn up! Find out more here: http://grandunion.org.uk/events.php
