Artist/Musician Traineeship

Creative early years arts traineeship in Norfolk

Artist/Musician Traineeship

They are looking for two playful people (18-25 years) who are keen to develop their arts practise working with 0-3 year olds.

You don't need to have worked with very young children before or have any formal music qualifications.

  • You will join early years arts specialists Magic Acorns from the end of April 2023 to April 2024 for a creative mix of playful professional development, in-work learning (crawling around on the floor with babies!), and mentoring to support you along the way. This is a paid opportunity.

Job Requirements

You will be paid to attend the training sessions. This will be made up of 2 x Magic Acorns Musical Play Days and a Magic Online - SALTmusic session. Total £300. You will be paid for supporting family music in the community (Norwich or Great Yarmouth) alongside an experienced EY music facilitator at a rate of £75 per half day. There will be 24 sessions over 3 terms. The total fee is up to £1800. You can also claim up to £15 per day towards your travel.

Job Responsibilities

The professional development sessions will be led by specialist artists and facilitators and will help you develop playfulness, listening and improvisation as key skills for working with this age group. Working alongside a lead facilitator/artist you will gain experience by supporting early years music sessions in the community where you will learn with and from the babies and toddlers through play, interactions, attuned listening and being together. There will be further training, including a Magic Online SALTmusic course, and mentoring will be available across the year.
