Kids in Museums launches Museum Careers Quiz

Kids in Museums have released a new online quiz to help young people learn more about careers in the museum sector.

Quizzers will answer questions to discover what museum career they might be most suited for. They can then find out more through role descriptions, job profiles and useful links.

The quiz is the latest in a series of resources, blogs and training published by the Arts Council England funded charity, which aims to support museums professionals to involve young people and increase their awareness of museum careers.

One resource is a guide to careers in museums and galleries, which was created in partnership with the Creative Industries Federation and Creative Careers Programme to detail jobs in the heritage sector and explore the next steps in pursuing a career.

As part of National Careers Week 2020, Kids in Museums spoke to a group of museum professionals to share their experience of starting work in the heritage sector.

Other resources include a blog written by Claire Benjamin from National Museums Liverpool, sharing how museums are working with young people to develop their skills and gain work experience during the pandemic. In a similar theme, they also released a blog detailing how museums support young people’s employment and employability skills.

If you are interested in finding out what career you might be suited for in the heritage sector, you can visit this link to take the Museum Careers Quiz.
