As the UK enters its third national lockdown, the BBC are supporting primary and secondary school pupils by broadcasting lessons and programmes, as well as putting additional content online.
In a departure from the first national lockdown, the BBC will be programming daily content on CBBC and BBC Two, in addition to the content available online, on iPlayer and through the Red Button.
There will be three hours of primary school programming on CBBC and two hours for secondary pupils on BBC Two.
What’s available?
For primary school pupils, CBBC will show BBC Bitesize Daily lessons, in addition to popular shows such as Celebrity Supply Teacher, Horrible Histories and Art Ninja. This programming will be on every weekday between 09:00 and 12:00.
The Bitesize Daily lessons will feature a different subject each day across the week, including maths, science, English and French. There will be teaching targeted at five-to-seven year-olds, seven-to-nine year-olds and those aged nine-to-11.
For secondary school pupils, BBC Two will air new content to support the curriculum. This will be supplemented with content such as drama adaptations and relevant BBC science, history and factual programmes.
Bitesize Daily Primary and Secondary is also airing every day on BBC Red Button and will be available on demand through BBC iPlayer.
Students will also have access to easy-to-follow lessons and additional resources through the BBC Bitesize homepage, which you can access here.
Finally, students will be able to access explainers, support content and memes through the BBC Bitesize TikTok and Instagram channels.
Parents can also use social media to get information about the programme scheduling as well as articles on how to support learning from home. The BBC are targeting parents through their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
