The nominations for this year’s Olivier Awards have been announced and musicals are leading the way!
During an video starring last years winners Sheila Atim and Giles Terera, it was announced that musical theatre hits Company and Come From Away had nine nominations apiece, while The Inheritance was the play with the highest number of nominations, with eight nods.
Gillian Anderson was nominated for best actress for her performance in All About Eve, a category where Eileen Atkins, Patsy Ferran, Sophie Okonedo and Katherine Parkinson also got nods.
The best actor sees Adam Godley, Ben Miles and Simon Russell Beale received a joint best actor nomination for their performances in The Lehman Trilogy. Ian McKellen, David Suchet, Arinzé Kene, Kyle Soller were also nominated.
The nomination announcement comes hot on the heels of the news that comedian Jason Manford will returning as host for the award ceremony on Sunday 7 April, after previously hosting in 2017.
