Grammy awards 2019: The Winners

No show from Childish Gambino, a surprise win for Kacey Musgraves, and a mind boggling 84 categories in an attempt to improve diversity.

Grammy awards 2019: The Winners

2019 was a big year at the Grammys, literally. There were more categories than ever this year - 84 to be exact, and certain categories have had their nomination slots bumped to eight from five. This decision was made to combat criticism that there was a lack of diversity in the marquee categories (album of the year, record of the year, song of the year and best new artist) after just one female artist was nominated for best album in 2018.

Childish Gambino didn’t turn up for his record of the year win, and Cardi B and Drake were both pipped to the post by Kacey Musgraves for album of the year.
