Today is Time to Talk Day

No one should have to struggle in silence

Today is Time to Talk Day

It can be difficult to open up when you are struggling with mental health issues. The fear of isolation, ridicule or being treated differently can put people off, and cause them to continue battling in silence.

Time to Change is a growing social movement run by Mind and ReThink Mental Illness, and they are responsible for the annual Time to Talk Day - a day where people collectively open up about their mental health issues and, perhaps more importantly, people take time to listen.

The movement has the support of celebrities including Fearne Cotton and Stephen Fry, both of whom have addressed their own mental health issues publicly before.

Of course, it is important to talk about your mental health whenever you feel like you need to, rather than confining it to just one day a year. Time to Talk Day is more to kickstart national conversation and open doorways for people to let friends and loved-ones know that there is help available.

So join in the conversation using the #timetotalk on social media, or for more mental health related content you can visit our Voicebox.

If you are struggling with mental health issues and need someone to talk to, you can call the Samaritans for free on 116 123, or visit their website to find their nearest branch.
