The disability-led organisation is showcasing disabled artists and pushing boundaries in accessibility and visual art.
A new virtual space was launched by Shape Arts this week, in partnership with movement artist Susanna Dye.
Working with photographer Manon Ouimet, alongside Danni Spooner and Aby Watson, Susana Dye’s STIMMING R&D exists to show the neurodivergent experience in a positive light and continue the important conversation around what we can learn from neurodivergent individuals. Using film and photography, STIMMING R&D invites users to explore the correlation between stimming and dance.
Stimming refers to the repetitive movements we make when trying to process sensory information. It’s a universal action that everyone experiences but are particularly important for neurodivergent people to help them make sense of their environment.
The gallery is part of Shape Arts commitment to support artists and creative collaborations. You can view the gallery here.
