Alex Wheatle MBE: The infamous Brixton Bard

Alex Wheatle MBE, award winning author and trailblazer for the Black British community, is not short of a story as he depicts his experience as an author within the UK and talks of how he chooses to evolve constantly as a creative.

The Brixton Bard, Alex Wheatle, is a notable author within the UK who prides himself on being the storyteller of authenticity and transparency, prioritising this above all else within his work. Voice spoke to him as he recounted his tribulations and journey from being a youth to becoming a noted author within the publishing world. As well as this, Alex unpacked what it means to be Black and British.
