Interview with comedian Josh Jones

Could you first introduce yourself to the reader?

Hello reader, I am Josh.

How would you describe your show?

An hour of silly stand-up about my life.

Why do you want to perform at Edinburgh Festival Fringe?

I think when you are british comic it’s just something that is expected of you like a right of passage

What differentiates it from other festivals?

Just the amount of comedians in one city for a whole month is crazy

What first motivated you to enter the industry? Who were your inspirations?

I was told to do it by a fair amount of people. To be honest I didn’t really watch stand up before I did I thought it was pretty boring but now I love it. My inspirations now though are Sarah Career? Silverman, Bette Midler and Suranne Jones

What is your earliest childhood art memory?

I didn’t do art when I was younger but I do remember my brother kicking a bin into my head.

If you didn’t have your current job, what would you probably be doing?

Probably still working in bars/restaurants. I was an amazing waiter and would always make the most in tips and that’s without doing anything sexual!

Did Covid-19 change the way you create work? Do you approach shows with a different  mentality now?

Yeah it made me less anxious. I am just gonna do what I do best and if some posh reviewer doesn't get it then I am not gonna lose any sleep over it.

Describe the last year in 5 words or less?

Yeah it’s been alright

If you could work with anybody, from any point in history, who would you pick and why?

Marie Antoinette, because I love days off eating cake.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to take a show up to the fringe?

Rob a bank or marry a rich old guy first.

When and where can people see your show?

Pleasance Bunker three 8:30pm

And where can people find, follow and like you online?
