I can relate to your reflections on technology use at festivals like Latitude. It's amazing how ingrained our reliance on devices has become, and attempting to disconnect, even partially, can be quite challenging. Your approach to using a Chromebook for writing and a mobile phone for photography highlights the convenience and adaptability that tech provides, even in a field setting.
The Latitude app sounds like a handy tool, despite its occasional bugs and the inconvenient updates. It's great to hear that it enhances your festival experience by keeping you informed and helping you manage your schedule. The idea of integrating easter eggs or notifications for secret gigs is fantastic and could add an extra layer of excitement to the festival experience.

Behind Our Skin by Jo Nead

I recently had the pleasure of watching Behind Our Skin and found it to be a compelling piece of theatre. The minimalist staging and effective lighting helped to focus the audience's attention on the narratives of the two women, each facing their own unique challenges in different cultural contexts.
The seamless switching between the two stories was well-executed and kept the performance dynamic and engaging. Although there were minor hiccups, like occasional line stumbles and a lighting mix-up, these did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

Sweta Chakraborty's assertion that "the climate crisis is changing everything" is a stark reminder of how intertwined climate change and national security have become. The CogX panel effectively highlighted the multifaceted nature of these threats, from the displacement of populations due to extreme weather to the strategic vulnerabilities in nuclear security.
Erin Sikorsky's insight into 'actor-less risks' underscores the complexity of modern security challenges that transcend borders and require unprecedented global cooperation. It's particularly alarming to consider that in 2020, more people were displaced by extreme weather than by conflict, a trend likely to worsen without urgent action.
