Parasite Review

Ki-taek's family takes an interest in a wealthy family for their living, however they get mixed into something unexpected.

Parasite is such an excellent film that breaks so many boundaries in regards to the story and production. The film falls into the three genres, thriller, drama and comedy. One of my favourite shots is where the 180 degree rule is broke, my jaw dropped. They kept breaking it in that scene, and they knew exactly what they were doing. There are a lot of risky shots like that throughout the film, and every time they were done perfectly and stood out.

Sound design is a very important part of a film, and Parasite shows you why. The sound helped create atmospheres that the camera couldn't have done by itself. Even when the camera was doing a risky shot the sound matched. There was a great scene with Choi Woo-shik where he walked around a corner, and we followed his movements perfectly with the sound, even though the camera wasn't completely following him. That's good sound design.

The story of Parasite is really something else. There are not many films that are so unique in this regard. The incredible actors added to the experience, the casting was perfect. Not talking about much of the story because knowing nothing about the film is the best way to approach it.

The reason Parasite deserves five stars is simple. The film masters every area, delivering an incredible experience for the viewer, story-wise, visually and audibly. As I said before, I wish I saw this in cinema.

I loved this film when I first saw it! The premise seems quite simple and lulls you into thinking you know where the story is going before completely throwing you off guard. Definitely agree with the 5 star rating!
