It seems quite hard to believe that the hit film ‘Coyote Ugly’ has turned twenty years old this year and as part of the celebrations, Grammy Award-winning artist LeAnn Rimes has worked with world-renowned DJ David Audé to share ‘Coyote Ugly 20th Anniversary MegaMix’ a collection of remixed tracks.
The five-track digital release opens with the title track as the rhythmic beat pumps out alongside the slick Trevor Horn production and Diane Warren lyrics.
Rimes’ lead vocal on ‘The Right Kind Of Wrong’ is impactful as she sings about being with a man who she really shouldn’t be with but yet it still feels right which is something a lot of people can relate to and this is exactly why people embraced the characters, story and music of ‘Coyote Ugly’.
I’m reminded of dance music hit-makers Cascada on ‘But I Do Love You’ and I think this will become a fan favourite on this set.
The electronic drum beats on ‘Please Remember Me’ are hypnotic as the keyboard swirls around and you can hear the sheer emotion in the way Rimes sings.
‘Can’t Fight The Moonlight’ keeps the signature lead vocal on the hit single whilst adding slight vocal reverbs and it helps the powerful lyrics pop.
In conclusion, it is important to state that whilst this is a selection of remixes it does in no way suggest for a minute that the original songs required improving far from it – the ‘Coyote Ugly 20th Anniversary MegaMix’ is more of a refresh for a new 2020 audience whilst still appealing to the established fanbase.
