Silver Arts Award - Taking Part In An Art Workshop

As a part of my Arts Award, I attended a contemporary dance workshop. It was held at The Northern School Of Contemporary Dance and was a CAT taster workshop.

Silver Arts Award - Taking Part In An Art Workshop

What was the title of the activity?

 CAT Taster workshop.

What art form did you try?

 Contemporary dance.

Why did you take this workshop?

 To improve my contemporary technique.

Who taught the event, and what did you learn about this teacher?

I was taught by a member of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. I learnt that this teacher likes to get straight to the dance and doesn’t waste time explaining.

Did you create any artwork? Describe it and the processes you undertook when you created it:

I created a short contemporary dance sequence, with two other girls. We used moves we had just learnt as well as ones we learnt before this workshop.

List some new skills or ideas you learned:

I learnt new sequences and movements, such as different ways to come up from the ground as well as new ways to move whilst on the floor.

Did you enjoy the activity? Why?

I enjoyed this workshop because I got to learn new ways to move and I feel I have improved in contemporary dance since I went to this workshop.
