Bait Studios Review

A Review of the Bait Studios talk.

#1 Creative Pathway Workshop with Bait Studios Review

I found out about the Creative Pathway workshop with bait studios from the Into Film website https://www.intofilm.org/. It was part of their film festival.

Bait studio are a small VFX company (Visual Effects) based in Cardiff https://baitstudio.com/lab/.

The talk was a beginner guide to Visual Effects from the intitial planning through to the finall delivery, covering both visual and special effects and sharing examples of films and TV shows they’d been involved in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualty_(TV_series)   ,   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostle_(film).

Rotoscoping is where most people start in the business, eventually moving up to producing and directing possibly in the future. The course really helped me think more about filmmaking and opened my eyes to how important lighting is to create the mood and tone of a scene.

People often enter the business by becoming good in their chosen field in their own time not necessarily by taking courses. Talent and enthusiasm are more important to someone hiring you than the courses you’ve been on in some cases.

The talk was part of a wider event so the college was full of different stand showcasing the amount of opportunities that there are in the creative arts industry.

I picked up a lot of leaflets about different pathway into the industry and got to have a go with an ITV film camera.

Overall the day was illuminating and inspiring and has helped me to think about my filmmaking and where I may want to go in the future.
