Alice Fraser: Mythos

The audience are captivated straight away, and Alice’s delivery is fantastic. Comic timing and good stories make this a must see.

Alice Fraser: Mythos

The show is what some might call ‘intelligent’, in so far as there are many great literary and worldly references entwined with personal stories, observational humour and an audience interaction rare to find at the Fringe.

Alice delivers a series of stories that start closer to home, explores her family roots, before graduating to an exploration of culture clashes, scientific debates and comedic songs accompanied by a banjo.

One of the endearing traits of Alice is how she regularly provides an undertone of commentary; a side-voice of explanation, delivered in a 'thinking out loud’ way or purely as a joke in the midst of another sentence. These were always delivered clearly, with intent, and always to rapturous laughter.

In addition, Alice embodies everything that public speaking training tells you. The passion she portrays, the intonations stay varied, she delivers with a range of volumes, speaks at pace sometimes and very slowly at others. Her pauses for effect are well timed and supported by great expressions throughout. The delivery is one of the best I’ve see over the years.

As the hour presses on, she does what all great comics do, and brings in references to earlier stories, responds to audience members in an off-the-cuff way and keeps them onboard throughout.

This is a highly recommended show for the comedy viewing public.
