The exhibition involved numerous artworks that people had submitted to the competition that had been shortlisted. THese were in a whole variety of different art forms.
As I have entered several competitions before and my artworks have been shortlisted, I have seen something similar to this before.
I found that the exhibition had been curated very well and the pictures that were submitted but weren’t shortlisted were put on a slideshow. I really enjoyed the Prize Giving evening and I also won the prize for ‘Best in Show’ in the age category 13-15 years.
I don’t think that there was anything bad about the exhibition, or prizegiving.
I would recommend entering the competition because it was nice to have my artwork up in a gallery for everyone to see, and it was a nice experience because I got to see lots of other artworks by other young people that were very good.
Again, what I learnt from attending and participating, I learnt that there is a lot of competition out there, and the artworks were of a very high standard. I had adopted a similar approach to the previous work I submitted to Young Art Cornwall, where I spent a long time working on my drawing so that I could perfect it. For my next competition, I need to try something that will stand out, so that is why I am going to start focusing on producing larger oil paintings.
